Isolation

A concept design piece focused on creating a Dystopian World environment, prompted by the theme of Isolation. To depict this theme, I wanted to place a character in an environment where he seemed small in a vast space. I decided to place him in a city, on a road residing into the distance, with buildings towering over him emphasising just how small he is in comparison. I used two point perspective to my advantage to achieve the desired effect. The city quickly became abandoned remnants, the after mass of a war to add to the theme of isolation, with the character the only life remaining for miles around, or perhaps the sole survivor. I used a cold colour palette for the city, since cold colours are considered to represent more lonely and negative feelings, mainly using dark blues and tints of greys. The only warm colour in the piece is found in the form of fire, placed beside the to highlight him, enveloping him in light and offering some protection from the surrounding darkness.
